Cirencester

Cirencester pronounced (listen)  is a market town in Gloucestershire, England, 93 miles (150 km) west northwest of London. Cirencester lies on the River Churn, a tributary of the River Thames, and is the largest town in Cotswold District. It is home of the Royal Agricultural College, the oldest agricultural college in the English-speaking world founded in 1840. The town's Corinium Museum is well-known for its extensive Roman collection. The Roman name for this place was Corinium, which is thought to have been associated with the ancient British Cornovii tribe, having the same root word as the River Churn.[2] The earliest known reference to the town was by Ptolemy in 150 AD.

Cirencester Town Council occupies an honoured position in serving the townsfolk of Cirencester. The Council seeks to provide a proactive service thus encouraging the role of Cirencester as "Capital of the Cotswolds".

Cirencester has a wonderful history and accordingly, the Town Council, whilst seeking to recognise and protect the town's heritage, is also making every effort to enable the townspeople to enjoy a quality of life compatible with the 21st Century.

How to find us

We are situated just off Dollar Street, close to the centre of Cirencester. The nearest car park is the Abbey Grounds Car Park which is at the end of Dugdale Road, to the rear of our office. From the car park, take the alleyway signposted 'Town Centre'. This takes you alongside our office. The front door is on the Dollar Street side.

If you are approaching our office on foot from the Parish Church, take the road named 'West Market Place' and follow it behind the church until it becomes Dollar Street. Our office is on the right-hand side and is a modern 3-storey building set back from the road.
